Fredericksburg Winery Map: Where Everything Actually Is

A pin map of Fredericksburg wineries is not very useful, because the thing you need to know is not where each one is but how long it takes to get from one to the next. Fifty tasting rooms scattered across four directions look manageable on a screen and are not. This is a written map organized by cluster, with the drive times that decide your day.

    Cluster 1: Main Street

    Where
    Downtown Fredericksburg
    Getting around
    On foot
    What is there
Lost Draw Cellars, Fiesta Winery, and several small tasting rooms

The only walkable wine in the region. These are tasting rooms rather than estates — no vines, no view — but they are genuinely useful. If you arrive Friday evening, or you want a glass without getting back in a car, this is where you go. Also the right call if half your group wants to shop.

    Cluster 2: US-290 immediately east

    Where
5–12 minutes east of Main Street
    Anchors
Grape Creek, Augusta Vin, Slate Mill, Texas Heritage
    Between stops
    3–8 minutes

The grand estate cluster, and the easiest full day in the region. Three wineries here can be done with under twenty minutes of total driving. Wildseed Farms sits in the same stretch if you want a non-wine break.

    Cluster 3: Stonewall

    Where
    15–20 minutes east on 290
    Anchors
    Becker, Pedernales, Kuhlman
    Between stops
    5–10 minutes

The strongest three-winery cluster in Texas for people who care about the wine. Also home to the LBJ Ranch and the peach stands, which makes it the most complete non-wine cluster too. Ten to fifteen minutes from cluster 2 and about eight minutes from cluster 4.

    Cluster 4: Hye

    Where
    20–25 minutes east on 290
    Anchors
William Chris, Ron Yates, Garrison Brothers Distillery
    Between stops
    3–6 minutes

Three excellent stops within a few minutes of each other, one of which is a bourbon distillery. If you want one cluster to do the whole day in and you care about the liquid, this is it.

Cluster 5: north on Highway 16

    Where
    10–20 minutes north of town
    Anchors
Signor Vineyards, Southold Farm + Cellar
    Between stops
    10–15 minutes

Fewer stops, better views, and the road that carries on to Enchanted Rock. Good for a half day, or for pairing one tasting with the park.

    Cluster 6: south of town

    Where
    10–15 minutes south
    Anchors
    Barons Creek Vineyards
    Also nearby
    Old Tunnel State Park, Luckenbach

    Combinations that work

    • Hye + Stonewall — the best wine day available in Texas. Six to ten minutes between clusters.
    • 290 east + Stonewall — the estate-and-substance mix. Ten to fifteen minutes.
    • 290 east only — the least driving of any real day. Under twenty minutes total.
    • Hwy 16 north + Enchanted Rock — one tasting and a hike, if wine is not the whole plan.
    • Main Street in the evening — always, after any of the above.

    Combinations that do not

    • Hwy 16 north + Hye — opposite sides of town, thirty-five minutes each way.
    • Hye + south of town — you cross the whole map twice.
    • Fredericksburg + Dripping Springs in one day — an hour apart minimum. Two separate trips.
    • Four clusters in one day — this is how people end up with three hours of driving and a rushed final tasting.
