Dripping Springs and Driftwood: thirty-five to forty-five minutes
The close side. Family-run wineries, working vineyards, and the one thing every other region lacks: a day that fits inside working hours. The event spaces here are smaller than Fredericksburg's, which makes the area ideal for teams of ten to eighty and a tight fit above that.
Driftwood · Teams of 10 to 80
Duchman Family Winery
An Italianate villa with a big courtyard, a reliably good tasting room and Italian-variety wines that surprise people. The decisive detail for a company event is Trattoria Lisina next door: a group can taste at Duchman and walk to a long Italian dinner without getting back in the van. Our most-used stop for a department-sized outing on the Dripping Springs side.
Driftwood · Teams of 8 to 60
Fall Creek Vineyards at Driftwood
One of the prettiest tasting rooms in the Hill Country, from Texas's founding winery, with wine that holds up to a serious palate. Elegant rather than rustic. The right first stop for a client group or a leadership team, and a good one for a reserved patio section.
Driftwood · Teams of 8 to 50
Driftwood Estate Winery
A hilltop with a long view over the valley and a terrace built to look at it. Casual, generous pours, and the kind of golden-hour setting that ends a company day properly. Best as the last stop.
Dripping Springs · Teams of 8 to 40
Solaro Estate
A boutique estate on a working vineyard with a tasting room that feels like someone's very good house. Quiet, personal, and better for a leadership group that wants to talk than for a crowd.
Dripping Springs · Teams of 6 to 30
Hawk's Shadow Winery
Up on one of the higher points in the area with a deck and a view that goes on. Small production, small room, and ideal for a group of ten that wants to feel like it found somewhere.
Driftwood · Any size
The Salt Lick BBQ and Salt Lick Cellars
Not a winery first, though the Cellars across the lot pours its own labels. The Salt Lick has been feeding long tables family-style since 1967, has a pavilion and grounds built for big groups, and is the lunch every Dripping Springs company day is built around. For a large group that wants BBQ as the main event, it hosts hundreds without blinking.
Spicewood and the Highland Lakes: about forty-five minutes
Spicewood · Companies of 50 to several hundred
Spicewood Vineyards
One of the oldest estates in the Hill Country, with a dedicated event space and grounds that hold a company. We have run a full afternoon here for a group of one hundred: a sparkling welcome off the coaches, an estate tour, guided tastings in four groups, the blind tasting challenge, an open bar and dinner on the property. Twenty minutes from Horseshoe Bay Resort, which makes it the natural afternoon out for a retreat based there, and forty-five from downtown Austin up Highway 71.
Johnson City, Hye and Stonewall: an hour to seventy-five minutes
The serious-winemaking stretch of 290, before Fredericksburg. Farmhouse tasting rooms, hilltop terraces, and the producers that wine people respect. Smaller event footprints than Fredericksburg, but the best afternoon on this list for a leadership team.
Hye · Teams of 6 to 40
William Chris Vineyards
The winery we recommend to clients who think Texas cannot make serious wine. A restored farmhouse under oaks, Texas-grown fruit, named growers, and staff who can talk about all of it. Private tastings for a group that wants to go deep. Not a party venue, and better for it.
Stonewall · Teams of 10 to 100
Pedernales Cellars
A hilltop terrace with one of the best views in Texas wine and a Tempranillo program to match. The terrace handles a sizable group and the setting does the rest. End a day here if you can.
Stonewall · Teams of 6 to 24
Kuhlman Cellars
Seated, guided, paired tastings rather than a bar, which makes it the most educational hour on 290 and a brilliant format for a small executive group. Book the private experience; it fills.
Stonewall · Teams of 20 to 150
Becker Vineyards
The biggest name in Texas wine, with the lavender fields, a large tasting room and event facilities that have hosted company gatherings for decades. Busy on weekends; on a weekday a group has room to spread out.
Hye · Teams of 10 to 60
Ron Yates
A modern tasting room with a wraparound porch and hill views, from the same family as Spicewood Vineyards. Spanish and Rhone varieties, a relaxed room, and a porch that takes a group comfortably.
Johnson City · Companies of 20 to 200, overnight
Carter Creek Winery Resort & Spa
The one property on this list where the company can sleep. Winery, brewery, hotel rooms, spa and event space on one site along 290. For a retreat that wants to be in wine country without moving every day, it solves the hardest problem on the agenda.
Fredericksburg: about ninety minutes
The grand estates and the biggest rooms, with a Main Street for the evening. This is where a company of a hundred or more has the most options, and where a full-day event or a retreat afternoon belongs.
Fredericksburg · Companies of 30 to 300
Augusta Vin
A newer grand estate with a striking modern building, a big terrace over its own vines and a sparkling program that makes a welcome toast easy. Built for events, polished, and comfortable for a large company that wants a sense of occasion.
Fredericksburg · Teams of 10 to 150
Signor Vineyards
Clean contemporary architecture, panoramic views and seating scattered across the grounds. One of our most-requested stops because it photographs beautifully and the pours are generous. A group can take a section of the lawn and feel like it has the place.
Fredericksburg · Companies of 20 to 200
Grape Creek Vineyards
Tuscan-inspired and resort-like, with a bistro on site, cypress drives and multiple tasting options. The stop where a group with mixed wine interest all find something to do, and the hospitality is as good as any in the region.
Fredericksburg · Companies of 20 to 200
Barons Creek Vineyards
A large property with a courtyard, event spaces and live music on many weekends. Suits a celebration: a holiday party, a milestone, a company that wants the afternoon to turn into a party.
Fredericksburg · Teams of 10 to 60
Das Peach Haus
Fischer & Wieser's orchard property with a wine tasting room, a lake and a pavilion under the trees. Unusual, relaxed, and a good change of pace between two big estates. The jams go home in the van.
Fredericksburg & Johnson City · Teams of 10 to 60
Slate Theory and 12 Fires
Two of the newer names worth knowing. Slate Theory has a distinctive underground tasting room cut into the hillside; 12 Fires has a big modern room and grounds outside Johnson City. Both handle groups well and give a company day a stop nobody has been to before.

Tell us the headcount, the date and where the group is staying. We will match the property, reserve it, and run the day.
Questions to ask any winery before you book a company event
- Can the property be reserved whole, and for which hours? Many close to the public only after a certain time.
- Where exactly does the group sit for the tasting, and is it covered? Ask to see it, or ask us to.
- Who leads the tasting: the winery's staff or a third party? The winery's own people are better.
- What food is allowed and from whom? Some estates have their own catering; others allow outside caterers; a few allow neither.
- Is there sound, a screen and power for remarks, or does it need to be brought in?
- Where do coaches park and turn around? A real question on a Hill Country ranch road.
- What is the weather plan? A covered or indoor space for the whole group, not a tent to be arranged later.
